Life and Learning Philosophy

LIFE and LEARNING are the terms used to describe a unique philosophy to student success.  LEARNING encompasses all of those areas surrounding traditional education subjects.  It addresses the academic needs of the student. We assist schools in establishing and implementing components of LEARNING so students can experience unmatched levels of academic success.

The success of a child is not only determined by what they learn in school, but additionally by what and who influences their life.  LIFE components focus on addressing the nonacademic side of a child’s day and life.  We work with and train staff to implement the LIFE components so that our children will have the necessary support mechanisms in place to succeed in school and in LIFE.
The Circle and The Coalition

The Coalition uses the circle to visually communicate the importance of education and the significance of various components that must be in place for it to be a rewarding, challenging and enriching experience for children.

The components of the Circle of Impact, although appearing to be independent, frequently overlap and are synergistic. While they can be implemented as stand-alone programs (i.e. culture and climate or families), it is when a school or district adopts a comprehensive transformational approach that more impacting and sustainable results are achieved.

The Circle of Impact

The Significance of the Circle

The circle is found in both overt and subliminal forms throughout many cultures, professions and industries.  Religion, ceremony, medicine, tradition, life and seasons are just a few areas that the circle is represented.  As stated by Black Elk, a holy man of the Oglala Lakota Sioux, "Everything the Power of the World does is done in a circle. The sky is round, and I have heard that the Earth is round like a ball, and so are the stars. The wind in its greatest powers whirls. Birds make their nests in circles, for theirs is the same religion as ours. The sun comes forth and goes down again in a circle. The moon does the same, and both are round. Even the seasons form a great circle in their changing, and always come back again to where they were. The life of man is a circle from childhood to childhood, and so it is in everything where power moves."
