Upcoming Events!

Since 2007,

the Coalition has developed various types of leadership environments  for fifth grade, middle and high school students.  These environments include the following:

•  1 Day Faces of Change Student Leadership Conferences

•  2 Week (10 day) Summer Leadership Camps

•  2 Night/3 Day Holiday Leadership Camps

•  3 Night/4 Day Spring Break Leadership Camps

Our goal is to increase the number of underrepresented students who receive a high school diploma, attend a postsecondary institution and graduate with a college degree. They further

Efforts will focus on student populations who are engaging in or are susceptible to getting involved with gang activity, bullying or other negative types of social behavior or actions.

Our approach is to get to the heart of a child’s mind and heart and determine why they are engaged in or considering getting involved in risky behaviors that may jeopardize their future.  Once this has been established, individual talents and skills are identified, goals are set, and steps (timelines) to achieve their goals are created.  Children are taken through a series of activities, workshops, and events that assist them in realizing their leadership skills and how they can use these attributes for “good rather than evil.”  Throughout all of our efforts, messages of completing high school and furthering ones education through some postsecondary option is reverberated.

Our efforts are focused on engaging children during times when they are not involved in school.  Weekends, holidays, fall, spring and summer breaks are all targeted times for these initiatives.  Fifth grade middle school, ninth and tenth grade students are our targeted grade levels.

The adults targeted through our initiatives, are in one manner or another responsible for the success of these children.  Our efforts with these adults are geared toward providing them with the training to support and guide these children through very intentional and deliberate processes that will affect the academic and life success.  As we journey together, adults will gain the tools and knowledge to work with these children more effectively.
